]]>Here are five foods that could be making your joint pain worse, along with some tips on how to kick them to the curb!
Sugar: That sweet tooth of yours might be causing more harm than good. Excessive sugar consumption can lead to inflammation, which can exacerbate joint pain. Try swapping sugary treats for naturally sweet fruits to satisfy your cravings without aggravating your joints.
Trans Fats or Fried Foods: As delicious as they may be, fried foods are loaded with unhealthy fats and oils that can fuel inflammation in the body and increase the risk of chronic diseases. Opt for healthier cooking methods like baking, grilling, or steaming to give your joints a break.
Processed Snacks: Say goodbye to those bags of chips and boxes of cookies! Processed snacks are often packed with additives and preservatives that can trigger inflammation and worsen joint pain. Instead, reach for whole, unprocessed foods like nuts, fruits, and veggies for a healthier snack option.
Caffeine: While a morning cup of coffee might be a non-negotiable for many of us, too much caffeine can lead to dehydration, which can exacerbate inflammation and joint pain. Keep your caffeine intake in check and stay hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day.
Gluten: For some people, gluten can be a major trigger for joint pain and inflammation. Consider cutting gluten from your diet and opting for gluten-free alternatives like quinoa, brown rice, and buckwheat to see if it makes a difference for your joint health.
By steering clear of these five troublemaker foods, you'll be taking a proactive step towards managing your joint pain and reclaiming your vitality. And don't forget to add a teaspoon of TURMERIC [blend] Powder to your meals or pop a TURMERIC [blend] Capsule in the morning for an extra boost of anti-inflammatory goodness.
Here's to happier, healthier joints and a life without limits!

]]>Now, if you are new to Nature Squared you might be thinking, "Turmeric? Isn't that just for adding a pop of color to my curry?" Well, hold onto your naan breads, because turmeric is way more than just a pretty face. This golden wonder spice contains a powerhouse compound called curcumin, which has been making waves in the health world for its amazing benefits.
One of the coolest things about curcumin is its ability to support healthy blood pressure levels. How does it do it? Well, it's all about those magical anti-inflammatory properties. You see, inflammation can wreak havoc on our blood vessels, causing them to become stiff and narrow, which can lead to high blood pressure. But curcumin swoops in like a superhero, fighting off inflammation and helping to keep those blood vessels nice and relaxed.
But that's not all, turmeric also helps improve blood flow and circulation, which is key for maintaining healthy blood pressure. By supporting the health of our arteries and veins, turmeric ensures that blood can flow freely throughout the body, keeping everything running smoothly.
Now, we're not saying that turmeric is a miracle cure for high blood pressure. It's important to remember that maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, is key to keeping your blood pressure in check. But, just one quick & easy daily dose of, either the powder or capsules, TURMERIC [blend] could be just the boost your heart needs.
So, next time you're sipping on your golden TURMERIC [blend] latte, remember that you're not just adding flavor to your life—you're also giving your heart a little extra love.
Cheers to turmeric and all the amazing things it does for our health!
]]>By just upping the walking you do each day you could help boost your heart health, digestion, sleep quality, muscle and bone strength, improve your mood, reduce the risk of chronic disease .... the list goes on.
So, come on, enough of the excuses, it's time to step up your game and we've got some easy tips to help you do just that.
Set Your Goals
Whether you're aiming for the recommended 10,000 steps a day or starting with a more manageable target, having a goal in mind can help keep you motivated and focused. Break it down into smaller chunks – aim for a certain number of steps per hour or set aside dedicated walking breaks throughout your day.
Make it fun!
Walking doesn't have to be boring – get creative and find activities you enjoy. Take a stroll in nature, explore new areas, or turn your daily errands into a walking adventure. You can even recruit a buddy or furry friend to join you for some extra motivation and company.
Seize the moment
Don't forget to make the most of everyday opportunities to move more. Take the stairs instead of the escalator or lift, park further away from your destination, or get off the bus a stop early and walk the rest of the way. Every step counts, so look for ways to sneak in a few extra throughout your day.
Make the best of things
If you're stuck at a desk for most of the day, don't despair and admit defeat – there are still plenty of ways to keep moving. Set reminders to take regular breaks and stretch your legs, or try standing up and walking around while you're on phone calls or during meetings. You could consider investing in a standing desk (we've done just that here at Nature Squared) or a treadmill desk to keep things moving while you work.
Keep Track
Finally, track your progress and celebrate your successes. Whether you use a fitness tracker, an app, or good old-fashioned pen and paper, keeping track of your steps can help you stay accountable and see how far you've come. And don't forget to celebrate your achievements along the way – every step you take is a step towards a healthier, happier you!
What are you waiting for? Lace up those trainers, hit the pavement, and start stepping your way to better health and happiness today.
You've got this!

They lower the PH of skin by increasing lactic acid production in the body. Lower pH = healthier happier skin! A bit of gut love can help to optimise the absorption of essential vitamins and nutrients, ensuring that the body can extract maximum benefits from the supplements that you are taking, at the same time as improve your overall immune response … in turn, helping manage psoriasis symptoms.

]]>Vitamin C: The Immune System's Best Friend
Vitamin C is a well-known immune system booster, and it's particularly important during the winter months. It's an antioxidant that can help your body fight off infections, reduce the severity of colds, and improve overall immune function. While you can get vitamin C from a variety of food sources, supplements can ensure you get an adequate amount, especially during the winter when fresh fruits and vegetables may be less available.
The Sunshine Vitamin: Vitamin D
Vitamin D is often referred to as the "sunshine vitamin" because our bodies can produce it when exposed to sunlight. However, in the winter, many people don't get enough sun exposure, which can lead to vitamin D deficiency. This deficiency can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of illness. The full daily dose of Vitamin D in the IMMUNE [blend] can help bridge this gap.
Zinc: A Vital Mineral for Immune Function
Zinc is an essential mineral for proper immune function. It plays a critical role in the development and function of immune cells, making it a valuable addition to your winter regimen. Supplementing Zinc can help reduce the duration and severity of common winter illnesses.
Elderberry extract
Elderberry is often used to help prevent and treat colds, flu and other respiratory infections. Elderberries contain antioxidants that help to protect cells from damage. They also contain flavonoids which are thought to have anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. These compounds can help to boost the immune system by reducing inflammation and fighting off viruses and bacteria.
Olive leaf extract
Olive leaf contains antimicrobial properties, which can help to inhibit the growth of bacteria and viruses. It also has antioxidant properties, shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and can help to neutralise harmful free radicals in the body.
Acerola Cherry Extract
a rich source of antioxidants as well as a natural source of vitamin C, all offering robust overall support of the function of the immune system.
MCT & organic black pepper
These little beauties help your body to absorb all the goodness above in a super speedy manner, also bringing their own anti-inflammatory and T-cell rich properties.
Taking just one or two capsules daily will provide an additional safeguard against hidden germs and illnesses, helping to maintain your optimal health. ]]>Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Turmeric's primary bioactive compound, curcumin, is a potent anti-inflammatory agent. Inflammation is a natural response to exercise-induced muscle damage, but excessive inflammation can lead to pain and hinder recovery. By reducing inflammation, turmeric can help alleviate muscle soreness and joint pain, enabling athletes to train more consistently and effectively.
Enhanced Recovery
Turmeric may speed up the recovery process after intense workouts. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties can combat oxidative stress, which contributes to muscle damage and delayed recovery. By reducing oxidative stress, turmeric supplements may help athletes bounce back faster, reducing downtime between training sessions.
Joint Health
Maintaining joint health is crucial for athletes. Turmeric's anti-inflammatory effects can be particularly beneficial for individuals prone to joint discomfort. Regular supplementation may contribute to improved joint function, flexibility, and reduced pain, allowing athletes to push their limits safely.
Improved Cardiovascular Health
A healthy cardiovascular system is vital for optimal sports performance. Curcumin has been studied for its potential to support heart health by improving cholesterol levels, reducing blood pressure, and enhancing blood vessel function. A healthy heart can better supply oxygen and nutrients to muscles during exercise, enhancing endurance and overall performance.
Pain Management
Chronic pain can be a significant obstacle for athletes. Turmeric's natural analgesic properties can help alleviate pain associated with various conditions, including arthritis or overuse injuries. By managing pain, athletes can stay active and continue their training regimen.
Cognitive Benefits
Physical performance is closely linked to mental focus and clarity. Curcumin has shown promise in supporting cognitive function and may help athletes maintain their mental edge during training and competition. Improved concentration can lead to better performance outcomes.
Natural Alternative to NSAIDs
Many athletes resort to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to manage pain and inflammation. However, prolonged NSAID use can have adverse effects on the gastrointestinal system and other organs. Turmeric offers a natural alternative with fewer potential side effects.
Supplementing turmeric, with its active compound curcumin, can be a valuable addition to the regimen of athletes and exercise enthusiasts. Its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and pain-relieving properties make it a versatile tool for enhancing sports performance, accelerating recovery, and promoting overall well-being. When used wisely, turmeric can help athletes harness the power of this golden spice to reach new heights in their fitness journey.
"Eating the rainbow" refers to the practice of consuming fruits and vegetables of various colours to attain a broad spectrum of nutrients. Each colour group, be it red, orange, yellow, green, blue/purple, or white, signifies specific vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals that offer unique health-promoting properties. By incorporating a wide range of colours into our diet, we can enhance our overall well-being and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
Nutritional and Health Benefits
Red fruits and vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon) are rich in lycopene, an antioxidant associated with a lower risk of certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, and macular degeneration. They also provide vitamin C and folate, contributing to a healthy immune system and cell function.
Orange and yellow produce (e.g., carrots, oranges, sweet potatoes) contain beta-carotene, which our bodies convert into vitamin A. Vitamin A promotes healthy vision, supports immune function, and helps maintain healthy skin. These fruits and vegetables also offer vitamin C, potassium, and other antioxidants.
Green leafy vegetables (e.g., spinach, kale, broccoli) are packed with essential nutrients like folate, vitamin K, and iron. They are also excellent sources of fibre and contain a range of antioxidants, such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which promote eye health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and certain cancers.
Blue/purple fruits and vegetables (e.g., blueberries, eggplant, purple cabbage) owe their vibrant hue to anthocyanins. Anthocyanins possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, improve cognitive function, and support healthy aging.
White produce (e.g., garlic, onions, mushrooms) may not be as visually striking, but they are still nutritionally significant. Garlic and onions contain sulphur compounds with potential antimicrobial and cardiovascular benefits. Mushrooms provide B-vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants like ergothioneine, which may have neuroprotective properties.
Practical Tips for Eating the Rainbow
Variety is key: Aim to include fruits and vegetables from each colour group regularly. This diversity ensures you receive a broad spectrum of nutrients.
Fresh and seasonal: Choose fresh, ripe produce whenever possible. Locally grown and seasonal fruits and vegetables often offer superior flavour and nutritional content.
Balance your plate: Incorporate colourful vegetables as a substantial portion of your meals. They can be roasted, steamed, stir-fried, or consumed raw in salads.
Snack smart: Keep a selection of colourful fruits and vegetables on hand for healthy snacking options. Sliced bell peppers, carrot sticks, or berries make nutritious and visually appealing snacks.
Get creative: Experiment with new recipes and cooking methods to make eating the rainbow exciting. Smoothies, fruit salads, stir-fries, and vegetable-based soups are just a few ideas to explore.
"Eating the rainbow" is not only visually appealing but also offers a multitude of nutritional and health benefits. By embracing a diverse array of colourful fruits and vegetables, we can supply our bodies with a range of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals necessary for optimal health. So, let's celebrate the abundance of nature's palette and embark on a journey to nourish ourselves with vibrant, wholesome foods.
The foundational principles and concepts of Ayurveda were codified in texts such as the Charaka Samhita and the Sushruta Samhita, which were written around 2,500 to 3,000 years ago. These texts serve as comprehensive guides encompassing various aspects of Ayurvedic medicine, including anatomy, physiology, diagnosis, herbal remedies, surgical techniques, and lifestyle recommendations.
Throughout its long history, Ayurveda has evolved and adapted to different times and regions, but its core principles have remained intact. Today, Ayurvedic medicine continues to be practiced in India and is gaining recognition and popularity worldwide as people seek natural and holistic approaches to health and well-being.
One of the key ingredients that holds a significant place in Ayurveda is turmeric. Renowned for its vibrant yellow colour and numerous health benefits, turmeric has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat various conditions and promote overall wellness.
Digestive Disorders: Turmeric has long been recognised for its positive effects on digestive health. In Ayurveda, it is used to alleviate a variety of digestive disorders such as indigestion, bloating, and gas. Turmeric stimulates the production of bile, which aids in the digestion of fats, and possesses anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the gastrointestinal tract.
Arthritis and Joint Health: With its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, turmeric is often utilised in Ayurvedic treatments for arthritis and joint-related ailments. Curcumin, the active compound found in turmeric, is believed to help reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with arthritis, providing relief and improving mobility.
Skin Conditions: Ayurvedic medicine employs turmeric as a potent remedy for various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Its antibacterial and antiseptic properties help combat acne-causing bacteria, while its anti-inflammatory nature soothes skin irritation and promotes healing.
Respiratory Health: Turmeric is valued in Ayurveda for its ability to support respiratory health. It is used in formulations to alleviate symptoms of common respiratory ailments such as cough, cold, and congestion. Its antimicrobial properties assist in fighting off infections, while its expectorant properties help clear respiratory passages.

Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are a type of saturated fatty acids that are found in certain foods, such as coconut oil. While long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) are the most common form of fats in our diets, MCTs offer unique properties that can positively impact our health.
Supplement Absorption:
One of the main reasons we use MCTs in our ingredients list is their ability to enhance the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and minerals. By incorporating MCTs into a supplement formulation, it can improve the bioavailability and absorption of certain ingredients, ensuring the body can effectively utilise them.
Enhances Weight Management:
MCTs are easily absorbed and rapidly metabolized by the body, providing a quick source of energy. Unlike LCTs, MCTs bypass the usual digestion process and are transported directly to the liver, where they are converted into ketones. This efficient conversion to ketones can promote feelings of fullness and help curb appetite, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight.
Boosts Energy and Athletic Performance:
MCTs have gained popularity among athletes and fitness enthusiasts due to their ability to provide a readily available source of energy. By converting to ketones, MCTs offer a quick fuel source for both the brain and muscles, supporting physical performance during workouts or endurance activities. Additionally, MCTs have been shown to improve the body's fat-burning potential, making them a valuable tool for those seeking to enhance their athletic performance or engage in high-intensity training.
Supports Brain Health:
The brain requires a constant supply of energy to function optimally. Ketones produced from MCTs provide an alternative energy source for the brain, especially in individuals with conditions like Alzheimer's disease or epilepsy, where glucose metabolism may be impaired. Some studies suggest that the ketogenic diet, which relies heavily on MCTs, can help improve cognitive function and memory in individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. While more research is needed, the neuroprotective properties of MCTs hold promise for supporting brain health.
Aids Digestive Health:
MCTs possess antimicrobial properties that can help combat harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi in the gut. They have been found to be effective against pathogens such as Candida albicans, which can cause fungal infections. Their ability to promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria makes them a valuable addition to a well-rounded gut health regimen.
Supports Heart Health:
Contrary to popular belief, not all saturated fats are harmful to heart health. MCTs, unlike long-chain saturated fats, have been shown to increase levels of beneficial HDL cholesterol while maintaining healthy levels of LDL cholesterol. This favourable lipid profile may help reduce the risk of heart disease and support cardiovascular health. However, moderation and a balanced diet remain crucial factors in maintaining heart health.
While inflammation is an essential part of the body's defence mechanism, it can become problematic when it persists for a long time or becomes chronic. Chronic inflammation is associated with a range of health issues and diseases, including cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, allergies, autoimmune disorders, and certain cancers. Prolonged inflammation can damage healthy tissues, organs, and DNA, leading to an increased risk of various health problems.
While drugs can be effective in managing inflammation, many people will prefer natural approaches. In addition to the lifestyle modifications, health supplements may also help reduce inflammation.
Lifestyle Changes and Health Supplements for Managing Inflammation
Here are some of the many natural approaches that can be taken to tackle inflammation:
Eat an anti-inflammatory diet: Focus on whole, unprocessed foods that are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fatty fish (such as salmon), nuts, seeds, and healthy fats (like olive oil). Avoid or limit processed foods, sugary drinks, refined carbohydrates, and excessive intake of red meat.
Maintain a healthy weight: Excess body weight can contribute to inflammation. By adopting a balanced and nutritious diet and engaging in regular physical activity, you can manage your weight and reduce inflammation.
Manage stress: Chronic stress can contribute to inflammation. Incorporate stress-reducing activities into your daily routine, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, or engaging in hobbies you enjoy. Getting enough sleep is also crucial for stress management and overall well-being.
Limit inflammatory triggers: Identify and avoid potential triggers that can worsen inflammation in your body. These triggers can vary among individuals but may include certain foods (see above), tobacco smoke, excessive alcohol consumption, and environmental toxins.
Curcumin: Derived from the spice turmeric, curcumin has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Supplementing turmeric/curcumin can help reduce inflammation by inhibiting various molecular pathways involved in the inflammatory response.
Ginger: Ginger contains gingerols, which possess anti-inflammatory effects. Ginger supplements or including fresh ginger in your diet can help alleviate inflammation. It can be consumed as a tea, added to smoothies, or used in cooking.
Green tea extract: Green tea is rich in polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea extract supplements can provide concentrated amounts of these beneficial compounds.
Resveratrol: Resveratrol is a polyphenol found in grapes and berries. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Resveratrol supplements may be an option for those looking to benefit from its anti-inflammatory properties.
Probiotics: Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that can support gut health and have been linked to reduced inflammation. They can be consumed through fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, or kimchi, or through probiotic supplements.
It's important to note that while these lifestyle modifications can help reduce inflammation, they may not be sufficient for everyone. If you have a specific medical condition or chronic inflammation, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice and treatment options tailored to your needs.

This is the most common question we get from those toying with the idea of trying the POWDER [blend]. Some people are scared to make the leap from capsules to powder because they can't see how they could introduce it as a daily health routine.
There is no one 'right' way to take the powder, my first tip is always to start by adding to something that you already regularly eat or drink, you are far more likely to keep it up if it's used with a staple from your fridge or larder.
The next thing we always like to remind customers is, treat it as a health product rather than a food, this way we find it is easier to maintain it as a daily ritual, if you try getting creative in the kitchen with it you are far less likely to keep that up daily & it will fall by the wayside before long.
Here are just some ideas of how to take it:
It doesn't matter what time of day you take your turmeric, although many find that first thing in the morning works best for them from a routine point of view, and because we have already added the MCT oil into the blend, it can be with or without a meal.
The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 teaspoons a day and it varies from person to person how much you need to feel the full benefit, you will learn how it works for you and your body and can regulate your intake accordingly.
Remember, it isn't supposed to taste great (although some of us actually love the stuff!), it's supposed to taste healthy!!! Keep blending it into different food or drink until you find your preferred combo ... and then come back and let us know what it is.
Good Luck & Happy Blending!
